Default fridge too cold
Model Number: PSS25MGNA WW   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Hi. My GE fridge (Model PSS25MGNA WW) is not doing well these days. First of all, things freeze up in the fridge even when I set the temp at the warmest setting. The Turbocool cool light is always on. A few years ago, I replaced the defrost thermostat and temperature sensor in the freezer because the freezer was not defrosting. Since then the fridge had been working fine. Over the last few months or so, I have had to raise the temp (i.e. make it LESS cool, where is 0 is cool, and 9 is the coldest setting) in the freezer to 2 and the fridge to 3 because things were freezing up in the fridge. The green indicator light for the Turbocool in the fridge is lit up all of the time no matter what I do (press button, hold button, etc). I am under the impression that this could be a problem with the touchpad, the control board, or the main control board on the back of the unit. I'd greatly appreciate your help... Sincerely, Jason

I had the same experience on the same exact model.

In my case, I found the the Fresh Food Damper Door broke off the motor assembly.

You may want to check this.

If this is your case, you will need a Kit....Part No: WR49X10091

How do you determine if this damper is the problem, and that it is not one of the control boards?

The Air Chute Asm in the top of the refrigerator section was removed and a visual observation was made. In my case, the Damper Door broke off the motor mechanism.

Thanks for the input. I checked the air chute, and the door was in deed broken from the motor mechanism...I took everything out, and carefull fixed the broken plastic door with some super glue...I put it all back together and the mechanism is working properly, but the TurboCool light is still lit up all of the time...When I press the turbocool button, the light gets brighter, the door closes, and the fan turns on...
