Default Compressor or Controller Board?
Model Number: PSF26NGNAWW   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

The compressor stopped running on my GE frig - no noise what so ever from it, the compressor can is not getting warm. The fans are running both inside and on the coils - the coils are all clean, the temperatures are displayed and all other functions seem to be working - but alas, no cold.

How can I tell if I need a compressor kit or simply just replace the controller board, which looks simple enough to do? Maybe there is a starter relay or some other component in the circuit thaat may need replacement?

Please help me diagnose this.

Thanks

Check the start device & relay for the compressor first. Rmove them and see if they rattle, if so replace them. If it is plugged in like this for too long it may be come a sealed system problem.

Here's the breakdown Model PSF26NGNAWW

Default to do or not to do?

If is not a fancy ref. better get a new one or used one . repairs may not be ok if is not a $$$$$ expensive one.any way test compressor windings for continuity.then make sure power is suplied when called .

Wow, all this negativity. If the compressor is not coming on, on a GE, I would replace the motherboard. It is about a $130 part if you do it yourself. The last I checked refrigerator cost alot more then that. Goodness!!!! Tom ApplianceEducator.com
