Freezer and Fridge not cooling
Freezer is cooling but not freezing the water in the icemaker and food is starting to soften in the freezer. The Overload/Relay Switch attached to the compressor will click, the compressor tries to start for 7 seconds (humming noise from the compresor), another click from the (Overload/Relay Switch), compressor stops humming. This process cycles about every minute 35 seconds. Question: will replacing the Overload/Relay Switch fix my problem? The Overload/Relay Switch has three female that plugs into the three male compressor attached pins.
Is Part No. AP3083556 the right Overload/Relay Switch for my fridge? Do I need to replace the capacitor also that is wired to the Overload/Relay Switch? Thank you |
Hello EdP. You can test the compressor windings and see if it is good. The run windings will read 1-5 ohms, and the start will read 3-11 ohms. Also check from the terminals to ground and make sure the compressor is not grounding out. If the compressor checks good, then the overload should fix your problem. Hope this helps.

I checked the Start/Run/Common and they check out good. I have uploaded pictures of my relay/overload and I do use a separate capacitor. Looking at Part Number: AP 3873993 and only showing one picture, though the compatibiltiy list shows this is the right part for my KSRS25IHSS02 KitchenAid Fridge, it does not look the same as my relay/overload. The link post that was sent along with your reply suggested as an alternative Part No. AP407740 that does look similar on the side that connects to the compressor but the other side I'm not sure. But, my Fridge is not on the compatibility list for this Part No. AP407740. On my Relay/Overload there are a blue and a white wires from the capacitor that attach to the start and run terminals. The terminal that has the white wire, there is another white wire going to the compressor and the common terminal has a red wire going to the compressor motor. Which Part No. should I purchase? AP3873993 or AP407740. Thank you. |
You will need to purchase the one that your model number calls for. This is a redesigned kit and will work on your model. Hope this helps. Part number: AP3873993

Installed new overload/relay yesterday and the fridge has been running for a day now without the constant clicking noise of the bad overload/relay. The freezer and fridge are freezing and cooling perfectly. This problem has been fixed. Thank you for your correct and precise help on my problem. Ed |

Hello,
I was wondering if there exists a similar item for model 10652582201, or if I should just use a hard start kit (AP4503017)? I am having the same symptoms as stated previously. Thank You, Kevin |
