My icemaker went out last year on my 18 year old frig so I went to an appliance part store and bought an after market maker. It worked great for a year and then the shut off arm fell into the ice bin and got all bent out of shape.

Initially the ice maker just kept making ice, and lots of it. Without the arm in place it never would shut off.

I straightened the shut off arm (more like a wire coathanger than an arm) and put it in place but I'm not having much luck with it making ice. It kinda does and then kinda doesnt. When I put the arm all the way down to have it make ice the arm slowly rides up and stops but it doesnt make ice.

Any ideas?

Obviously there is a switch inside the unit that the shut off arm triggers, is that adjustable in any way or is it more of an on and off switch?

So nobody has an idea?
This forum seemed like it got a lot of traffic so I thought someone might know what is going on.

The unit is not triggering water to flow, so no ice is being made. This thing is a year old, do they really peter out that quickly?
