Ice maker quit last Thursday. Found the schematics and troubleshooting guide in top compartment. Tried to use the ice maker troubleshooting guide but it had an obvious miss print in step 1 that said go to step 3 .. I surmissed this should have been step 2. Still it led me in circles. Ordered a new ice maker on Friday and purchased the new electric eye boards. Changed the eye boards on Friday and it started up and made one batch and quit again. Put old boards back in . Still not working. Took out ice maker and took it apart. Tested motor and heater and suspected thermostat. Reads open as it warms up and if left in freezer for about 15 minutes reads short. So it is doing something. Ordered a new thermostat on line. Put the ice maker back together with the old parts and put it back in. Started working and worked all weekend with all of the old parts and eye boards. #$%%&%$. Soon I will have a whole new ice maker, a new thermostat and already have a new set of electric eye boards. I guess I will be ready next time it goes beserk.
