Model Number: MSD2556AEW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
THE water hose connection in the back of the Matag refrigerator came loose and was shooting out water. I reconnected the hose and it continued to spew. I found the hose inside the freezer where the water feeds the ice maker was frozen so I unplugged the unit and melted the ice in that tube. I reconnected the water feed hose in the back, but it continued to freeze the water inside the freezer. Is there something I am overlooking or a specific part I need. I looked into two possible parts. One was a Valve - Dual Outlet (part #61005626 for $33.50) or the Inlet Valve (part #12001892 for $35.74). I wanted to see if you could advise as to what I need and if the above parts I mentioned would both need to be replaced. The unit continues to feed water to the ice maker in spurts, so I assume that motor or devise is in good working order.
Please advise. Thanks, Brad Ads By Google Related Models |

If your getting water up the water line to the tube connecting to the icemaker then you don't need a new water inlet valve. Since the tube is frozen, my best guess is that the water inlet valve is fine. You need to set your freezer to a lower temperature. If that doesn't work then you may need a new thermostat or thermister. Do you notice frost on the back wall of the freezer? You may also have a defrost issue. You may need a defrost element or a defrost thermostat
