Our ice maker acted erratically for a number of months before it stopped working. The fill tube was often frozen and twice the water overfilled the ice tray and came running out the door. Finally, it stopped working altogether. We could manually fill the tray and it would freeze and turn out the ice, so we decided it was the valve. We ordered a valve and my Dad installed it after he sent current to the old valve and didn't get it to respond. It filled and made at least one tray of ice. I checked on it a couple of days later and decided it wasn't making ice. I raised and lowered the bar and checked the fill tube to make sure it wasn't frozen. Thirty minutes later I heard water pouring out of the refrigerator. I rushed around trying to find the valve in the basement and finally just pushed the bar back up and it cut off. My Dad thinks that the control module is also bad. Does this make sense? How likely is it that both parts went bad at roughly the same time? Is there anything else it might be?

But why would I need to replace the whole ice maker if just the control module is bad? For this model, there is a separate part available.
