I have no water in the door dispenser on my fridge. I turned the freezer temp down several days ago to see if it would fix it and it has not. So today I thought I would see if I figure out the problem. I disconnected the water line from the pump on the back of the fridge to see if water was flowing from the pump and it is. The problem I have now is that when I put the water line back into the pump it now leaks whenever it is turned on. Is there something I need to buy or do to make this stop leaking?

Also, I checked the hose at the bottom of the doors to see if water was coming out from there when I pressed for water and it does flow from here. So the problem has to be somewhere in the door. Any ideas on what it could be if it's not frozen in the door?

Any help or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Keith,

I'm assuming the "pump on the back" is actually the water inlet valve, so how did you disconnect the water line from the water valve?

There are three water lines connected to the water valve. One incoming and two outgoing with the different sizes. Which water line did you disconnect? Where it's leaking from?

If water is coming out from the plastic tube under the freezer door when the water dispenser calls for water, but it's not coming through the water dispenser then the water line inside the freezer door is frozen. Unfortunately the door can not be taken apart (stupid design) and GE recommends to replace the whole door. This is not seldom today to see the manufacturers wanted consumers to pay for their poor design.

You can try to defrost the whole door, but I'm afraid it would not last long.

P.S. What is the exact temperature in the freezer? If it's too low then it can cause the water line to freeze inside the door.

Hi Gene,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I was afraid the water line was freezing and there's not really much I can do about it.

As far as the leak. There is a water pump on the back of the fridge (bottom left) that is blue in color. The water in goes through the top and then there are 2 tubes coming out of the bottom (one black and one clear). The black tube feeds the ice maker and the clear tube is for the water dispenser. The clear tube is the one I removed to see if it was clogged and to make sure the pump was working (no clog and pump is working). Anyway, I put it back into the pump and it wont seal now and is leaking when I activate the pump. I'm guessing I need some type of sealant or a new part that goes up in the hole to seal it... I'm just not sure.

If you have any ideas or thoughts on how to seal this tube into the pump so it don't leak anymore I would appreciate the advice.

Hi Gene,

I just held the tube with my hand and pulled it out. It wasn't really hard to do. I noticed what felt like some residue (It had a rough feeling) on the tube after I pulled it out. I think the fitting on the pump is built in and only meant for a one time use. So I went ahead and purchased a new pump. I will just put that on when I get it. If you have any other thoughts please let me know.

Keith,

You had to push it the central collar while pulling out the tube to release the fitting. Very likely you damaged it.

You have to cut off about one inch of the tubes before you'll insert them into the new water valve.
