My GE wine cooler seems to be functioning fine except for the door's desire to just randomly pop open at times. When you close it, it will stay closed, sometimes for weeks. Other times it will just keep popping open. Does the magnetic door gasket need to be replaced or is there something I can do to solve this problem more cheaply. The gasket is $100.

Make sure the unit is level side to side and front to back.
I would actually lean it a little towards the back.
Clean the door seal and the units frame.
Sometimes the hinge side of the seal does not slide easily on the frame when closing the door causing some tension. A light coating of vaseline or white lithium grease along this side should solve this. |
