Model Number: V25NAD Brand: -other- Age: 5 - 10 years
We have had a Woods V25NAD upright freezer for 6 years and have always experienced excessive frost build-up requiring manual defrosting a minimum of every 3 months.
All 4 repair guys have said that the seal on the door was fine. One caulked around the freezer housing/cabnit/whatever in case there was any air leak (made no difference). The last repair guy "straightened the door hang" and "put a hair dryer to the door seal" (whatever that means) and recomended that we defrost it for a week saying that this would clean the frost entirely out of the door and may help. Could this be a faulty door? So far no one can diagnose it! Ads By Google Related Models |

By the sound of it a faulty door could be a problem.
Close the door with a dollar bill in the seal, try to pull it out. If it just slips out you have a sealing problem. Do this all around the door. Make sure the hinge side of the seal does not grab onto the frame and distort when it closes. If it does put a light coating of Vaseline or white lithium grease on the seal. Check the bottom hinge, many units have a plastic cam here that helps shut the door, it may be broken Do you know what type of insulation is in the door, if it is fiberglass then it is probably shot. Once it gets wet it looses all insulation value. The unit is likely costing you a fortune to run. I would pull the doors inner liner and find out what is going on. Check the liner for cracks.
