Installing a Starter Device Kit EGY 90 compressor

I do not see where the overload protector and the white jumper tie into the starter device kit. The old part did not have these items; how important are they?
The small black relay in the box; is it called the PTC relay? The instructions do not mention this part.
The new starting switch has a long spike sticking out; the old one did not have this feature. Is this significant?

What part # did you order, the AP3885081 or something different?
