Icemaker works fine, but the ice/water dispenser does not work at all and the light for the dispenser does not come on either

Bad fill valve, board or actuator. (micro-switch)

Do you know how to check voltage with a meter?

Check for voltage at the water valve by pulling off the related solenoid plug. Hook up your meter to the power supply and have someone press the lever. If you have 110 volts, the valve is bad. If you don't, it's either the board or the actuator.

You can check continuety through the micro-switch by locating it behind the escution despenser panal and touching your leads to the terminals while pressing the actuator switch.

This is not an easy task and if you aren't confident in how to handle this, I recommend saving yourself the grief and just calling a professional.
