I know this isn't the coffee maker forum, but since freezers have ice machines that are hard plumbed I thought I might be able to get my answer here. I have a Bunn commercial brewer in my home. It's about 5 years old and I have copper plumbing to it. Today for the first time, I began hearing a loud hissing sound coming from the plumbing line (not the coffee maker itself). It is the sound of water, as though it is hissing through the lines. My coffee maker only allows water in when it's actually brewing, and it doesnt even sound like that and it isn't even brewing at the moment. My first concern was a leak. But there doesn't appear to be one. No water anywhere. Is it air in the lines? What causes this and how do I correct it? Thanks.

The flow valve could be partially open, allowing just a trickle of water through. You could also have a pin-hole leak in the water line that lets a mist through that's so fine, it's nearly invisible at certain angles.

Try shutting off the water at the source, and see if the sound stops.

This forum doesn't really support small appliances, but I used to service Bunn Commercial Coffee makers.
