My GE Beverage Center is freezing up. Once the compressor is on, even with thermostat control set to 1 (lowest) it never shuts off, and the temperature in the unit goes below freezing. The unit can be turned on or off manually with the thermostat, by setting it to almost completely off (below 1) or up to 2 or 3 to turn it on, but there is no automatic control of temperature.

I was advised by GE and by AppliancePartsPros that this was almost certainly the thermostat control, and purchased a new one (for over $150 with shipping) from AppliancePartsPros, which I installed myself (ex-engineer).

With the new unit, I have exactly the same symptoms. I have two thoughts about this:

1. The unit that was sent to me is defective.

2. There is something other than the thermostat control wrong - perhaps there is a relay or solenoid that the thermostat controls that is defective, or ???

Help!!!

Thank you,

Steve
