Model Number: 106.58787892 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
I have a Kenmore Coldspot Side by Side Mdl# 106.58787892. When I place a glass against the the ice receiver, the trap door opens but, the auger does not turn on to deliver the ice. I have cleaned the storage tray and reinstalled same. I have tryed to move the auger by hand thinkings there may be a shear pin broken off, but the auger is tight and does not move. I swithced the the door switch from cube to crused without sucess. I have all tools necessay and am an avidit DIYer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
An Isometric on this unit would be nice with a place to start the trouble shoot. thks, AA Nowak Ads By Google Related Models Last edited by AA Nowak : 01-24-2011 at 03:05 PM. |

Remove the ice container and the bracket behind it. Remove the wires from the auger motor. Tape in the door light switch. Measure the voltage to the auger motor while pushing the ice cube release lever.
Post the results. Gene. P.S. Does the water dispenser work?

Remove the dispenser front cover (the instructions are attached) and check all parts in the ice door chute and the micro switch.
If there is nothing wrong, replace the push button switch. - The push button switch Part number: AP3086666 Gene.

Will do. Does that cover just snap in? I also need to replace the plastic dust shield over the switches on the front, they are starting to crack. Are they still being made? Ours is either Biege or Almond in color. |

OK, Got the front panel off and the main switches mounted to the panel chek out with good continuity. There are two activation switches mounted on the recessed panel. One each on the upper left and right corners. The one on the left that operates from the ice lever has a broken plastic clip which is molded into the plastic back panel. Is that the micro switch you are thinking of? Thks AA Nowak |

Sorry about the confusion. Your help is greatly appreciated. The instruction sheet you supplied saved me much time in trying to figure out how to replace the front panel cover without additional damage to the unit. So thanks again. In the instruction step #7, it calls out to remove the micro switches. On the diagram fig #3 it simply refers to them as the light and dispencer switchs, no item numbering on any of the diagrams. You refered me to a part number for the front panel main switch block in you prior post. The back panel I refered to is actually called the "Control Bracket" in Fig #3. All my electrical compnents check out as working. The problem turned out being the mountung pins and clips for the micro switch actuated by the ice releace lever. They were scheared off from to much presure applied. These pins and clips for both micro switches are molded into the "Control Bracket". I have temporaly remounted the mico switch, but need to replace the "Control bracket". If you could help me out with a part number for that item, I will oder it out to complete the project. The other item I mentioned I would like to replace at this time is cosmetic. It is the vinyl dust cover on the front panel covering the main switch block. ON this model, the switch block is inserted from the front of the panel and is then covered by a self glued vinyl dust cover which has the kenmor logal and the switch call outs on it. I tried a search on the parts data base without a positive hit. If you could find it for me and supply a part number, I will order it along with a few broken clips for the inside of the frig. Again thanks for your help. My past experience with trying a fix on a completely allian appliance, for most part, would result in a few broken plastic mounting clips. Your help saved me from that replacement cost and much time. AA Nowak |

You are welcome.
The control bracket Part number: AP2988571 The other, cosmetic, part is the overlay and this part is no longer available. Gene.
