I have a magic chef Refrigerator side by side Every 14 mins it kicks on and 7 min of run time it kicks off. I have replaced the thermostat twice thinking that was the problem but like (clockwork ) it keeps on all three the same thing. The door seals are good shape with no leaks the fans are find with no dirt built up.Keeps everything cold . Is there a relay?

You wrote( it sounds like I have no problem)... the whole ideal of a thermostat is to kick on the compressor when it is needed to keep a controled temp.. the compressor kicking on every 14 mins is not right unless it is called for inwhich it is not.. there is a problem...Im smart enough to know that the avg kick on with a norm compressior is every 37 to 45 mins with a run time ave of 6 mins

Well, the last thing I remember in the 30 years in the appliance service is, the thermostat calls for the compressor to come on, when the temperature rises to a certain level. The thermostat controls the on and off cycle of the refrigerator. You said, the fans are runing, the thermostat is replaced, the gaskets are good, the temp is fine, the coild are clean. I don't know what we are looking for here.

Terrymi, I have NO idea where you got your numbers for RUN TIME, But, TRUST ME!!! They are FALSE!!! There is NO SUCH THING as a STANDARD RUN TIME!!! There are MANY,MANY FACTORS that go into how much a unit will run, Tom and I have given you our PROFESSIONAL OPINION on this,If the food load is low, it will SHORT CYCLE, If you turn your HEAT down a lot at night, It will do the same thing!!! If the unit is not FULL, Put some plastic milk jugs full of water in to BOTH compartments until the extra space is taken up, see if this helps. A 50% run time is OK!!!!

I am with you Draggs. I would bet my 20 year old frigidaire runs about 70% of the time. Tom
