The water in the door recently stopped working, we could still use the ice feature. We called a local appliance repair service who came out and said the water reservoir had frozen. He said that there must be some disconnect between the control board sensing that the refrigerator was at the correct temperature. We had also noticed that the fruit was freezing in the crispers. He replaced the main control board, replaced the thermisters and defrosted the water in the reservoir. The following day the water stopped working again, same problem with water freezing in the line. He just replaced the damper assembly and the next day the water stopped working again.

Should we just call it quits on this appliance or is there something else that could be done to correct the problem?

Being it's less then one year old it's still under warranty. The G.E. Tech should be able to check with G.E. to see if there is some type of service bulletin on this model that will tell him how to correct the problem.
