Model Number: MZD2665HEW Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
My side by side recently stopped making ice, though the water dispenser works. I was an electronic repair tech for 6 years and did a little testing- I found the ice/water solenoid at the back of the unit. When switched to the water function on the front panel and pressing the switch the water half of the solenoid gets 120V AC to it. However, when swithching to either ice funciton (cube or chips) I don't get any AC voltage on the ice half of the solenoid. I presume the problem is the logic circuit board located in the door. Can anyone confirm my suspicisions or steer me in the right direction if I am wrong?
Other observations- #1 The main large ice bin auger does turn. #2 The small ice tray auger does not turn. (perhaps by design?) #3 I did test the fusible link located on the ice maker assembly and found it to be ok. Are there other tests I should do to confirm my no ice symptom? Many thanks in advance! **update*** I did find some ice in the bin this morning. Last night when I assembled everything the ice maker had no water in it. I would have expected more ice though. It only appears to be one batch. I finished working on it at about 11 PM and I checked at 8 AM this morning. If I understand, it takes about 2-3 hours per batch.
