Smelled odd burning smell in freeser and fresh food sections and unit stoped cooling. Check the compressor relay, no burning or melting. Checked the compressor all 3 terminals show resistance between each other and nothing between 3 terminals and ground. Removed evaperator cover, burn mark on inside. Defrost heater melted into 2 pieces at that spot. Could this have melted the evaperator coil and leaked refrigerant? I tried to see with a inspection mirror but only see black, Hard to get a good look with out removing coil. I have repaired many appliances over the years but this is above my abilities and tools. The parts should be about $300 what do you think the labor and recharge fee would be? Is it better to by a new refrigerator than repair this 13 year old model? Other than replacing water inlet valves this machine has had no problems. Thank you in advance for any help or advice.
