Well This refrigerator started making a clicking noise and quit cooling, I changed the motherboard out, now the compressor and condensor fan run but no indoor fan.
I had a appliance guy come to look at it and he first changed the board again then he proceeded to change the indoor fan, that did not work.
He then told me that the motor has the proper voltage to it but it must have a broken wire on a return line as it is a dc motor. Can this be possible. He says Im screwed because the wiring cannot be accessed.
Im wondering how a wire can just break.
Does anyone have any other ideas. Thanks any help is greatly appreciated.Randy

Hi Randy,

Following is the test procedure for not working evaporator fan motor (you called it "indoor fan"), recommended by GE.

At the evaporator fan connector, check for 13VDC from the red to white wire and 8-13VDC from the white to yellow wire.

If the voltage is correct for both, then replace the evaporator fan motor.

If the voltage is incorrect, then unplug J2 connector on the main control board. Check for 13VDC between pins J2-3 and J2-8 and 8-13VDC between pins J2-3 and J2-4.

If the voltage is correct for both, then the problem is with the wiring between the main control board and the evaporator fan motor.

If the voltage is incorrect, then replace the main control board.

If the voltage is incorrect at the main control board, make certain to
check for a shorted fan motor (less than 1K ohm between white to red
or white to yellow). A shorted fan motor will damage the replacement main board.
