We have a GE profile fridge, with french doors, bought last year. Our problem is ice maker will not switch between crushed and cubed. Once switched to cubed it remains stuck there, and will not give crushed when switched back to crushed. Only thing that enables us to get back to crushed is emptying out ice box and waiting. Also specks of some kind of material are coming out with the ice. They look like little bits and white paper or white plastic? Any advice appreciated.

Their have been serveral issues with these. If it's still under a year old call GE for service.

We have been in contact with GE, and have had several repairmen out. GE downplays the problem. The last repairman we had out said all these fridges have problems; it's an engineering flaw. He replaced a part, but nothing has changed. Are we going to be stuck with a defective product? We're not sure what our next move should be under these circumstances.

Call them again, throw a FIT and have them send a different tech out (a different company if need be), we don't do GE warranty service, but they have called us before when they had to. Worth a shot! Keep calling them until it's fixed.
