The new ice maker was intended to solve a problem of water coming pouring down from the front of the fridge. How does the water flow stops when the ice maker is full?

By the water valve in the back of the refrigerator. So if the valve is getting weak, then will not close all the way, and it will let to much water in. On the normal operations, the icemaker tells the water valve to give me water, and how long. So if it is letting too much water in, it is most likely the water valve.
