The compressor on my refrigerator will not start. It had been running on a generator after a Hurricane when it failed. A compressor check showed the start windings had a lower resistance than the "good range" quoted for the unit. A new PTC Relay did not help.
I have purchased your kit AP3108882 (4387772) and have received a new EMBRACO compressor as the official replacement part.
Was the compressor filled with oil at the factory? Is the oil added or changed after the compressor is imported before it is resold?

The compessor comes with oil, but not for refrigerant. You will need a certified tech to replace the compressor.

Nat I am in the same predicament as Ted. I'd like to buy KIT AP3108882, compressor replacement for a Mytag PTF1953GRQ Ver. 17. The compressor works fine for one and a half week, and then starts tripping the PTC relay and won't star again. I already replaced the relay, and starting condenser, but same thing. If the compressor comes with oil, where can I get the 3.25 Oz. of R134A refrigerant specified? By the way, I have all the instruments for refrigerant evacuation and recharge (manifold with high and low gauges, piercing valves, etc). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...

That's where the problem comes in, the 134A comes in large tanks which you have to have an EPA certification to buy. Automotive connections for fren are different than those of appliances they will not fit. We have a digital weighing scale to measure exactly how much 134A to put into a refrigerator. If you over charge them it will burn out a new compressor rather quickly. Have seen a few units that people have had a CH/A guy work on in our area that ruined the unit due to over charging.
