Model Number: 10653602201 Brand: Kenmore Age: 5 - 10 years
The refrigerator side of my side by side Kenmore hasn't been cooling. There is ice-build up on the coils of the freezer. I turned the power off to defrost the freezer manually. The ice wasn't completely melted before I went to bed so I d left the door open overnight. This morning there was even more frost on the coils than there was the night before. What would cause freezing after the power is turned off?

You need to locate your defrost timer, probably in the fridge control panel. Just turn the knob till the compressor stops, then remove freezer back panel and look for the defrost heater and verify it is heating, if so, you have a bad defrost timer.
If no defrost, you probably have a bad defrost thermostat. You can click on your model # above to get parts.
