Thanks guys! It was the bin thermistor.

The system is running - but not cooling :(

Condensor fan is running
Water is circulating
Compressor is running (I can feel it vibrating)
Condesndor is cool
Evaporator is cool (water temperature)

I swagged the amount of freon I added - over 1/2 a can. I have guages.

Any ideas what to do to trouble shoot?

Thanks

The low side is showing -(minus) 20 psi
The high side is showing 95 psi

The inside of the icemaker door has a label that says:

Design Pressure
95 PSI Low
350 PSI High

What should I do?

Thanks!

How do you connect a can of 134a to these guages? The yellow hose has the same threads as a can of 134a, but it will not pierce the can. I need a hose that connects to and pierces a can of 134a on one end and has a male 134a on the other. Does that exist or is there some other way to connect the guages to the freon?

Put your guage on the lowside. You should be reading about 0 to -4inch in cooling mode.

20inch vaccum (however the hell it's spelled) is not good, your low on refrigerant, or you have a leak. I have never used those cans so not too sure. The label on the ice machine should tell you how much charge it takes...Where did you put your charge port, did you pull a vaccum before charging it?

20 in of vacuum might be a restriction

I pulled a vaccum with a venturi pump. It held for 10 minutes untill I added freon.

The compressor was replaced a few years back, I think that guy added the charge ports. There's one on the compressor and another on the condensor. That's what I connected the guages to.

Any ideas on how to connect a can of 134a to those guages?

Evaporator replacement:

It quit making ice so I called the repair guy. He looked at it and said it was the evaporator and it would cost $800 to replace the evaporator and the compressor.

I took the top off the ice maker and sprayed soapy water on the evaporator - sure enough, it was leaking.

The part was only $120 bucks. My brother had a torch and silver solder. I took it apart, he heated up the joints, the old one came off. We put the new one on. Seemed easy enough...
