Model Number: PSF26MGWA WW Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
The ice maker in my GE side-by-side makes ice well. The water dispenser works fine also. The problem is that the ice won't dispense when the lever in the door is pressed. I had Sears come out and look at it and they didn't really know what the problem was. They suggested replacing the whole ice maker for about $350 but they weren't sure that would solve the problem. The repairman said I could try replacing the drive cup. I have purchased the part, but have not replaced it yet.
On further inspection this morning, I think I have determined what the problem is. When the auger starts to turn, it only turns for about a 1/4 turn and then it gets hung when one of the ice crusher blades gets stuck on the edge of the bucket as it is trying to turn. If I push the blade off of the bucket, the auger will then turn until the blade makes a full revolution and gets stuck again. Is there an easy way to fix this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Ads By Google Related Models |
