Default Sub Zero 650 troubleshooting
Model Number: 650   Brand: Sub Zero   Age: 1 - 5 years

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com
Hi all. I recently purchased a used sub zero 650 and am having an issue with it. I waited over 24 hours after it was delivered before I plugged it in because it was on its side. Two days after plugging it in and using it with no issues, a message appeared on the interior panel reading "vacuum condenser". I did some research to find out what I should do. I used a soft bristled brush attachment on my vacuum cleaner and cleaned the condenser on the top of the unit on the right hand side. Then I power cycled the unit. Ever since doing that, it seems as though the fridge is not working. It wont get below 44 degrees (its set at 38). I also dont hear the air flow when I open the fridge door anymore. It's almost as if the fridge is kinda holding the temperature without really working, it that makes any sense.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the response! Yes, the freezer is working fine. BTW- the "vacuum condenser" indicator is back on as of this morning.

Remove the freezer back panel and describe the frost pattern, should have light frost over all the condenser tubing.

I took the middle panel off on the back of the unit. Inside, there was a bundle of multi-colored wires, two brass tubes, an insulated tube and the water line. Nothing had any frost whatsoever on it. Where the insulated tube entered into the unit, there was some yellow insulation as well. That insulation was wet. Other than that, everything is dry as a bone.

When I press the buttons at the top of the fridge part with the door open (the button to make the light go out), the fan does come on in the fridge.

Default Update!

The fridge is behaving normally now except that the "vacuum condenser" indicator remains on.

You may have had a temporary condenser/evaporator fan stall, I would check them and measure the freezer and fridg section temperatures and post.

It seems as though the fans are working ok. The exhaust that was coming out of the top of the unit is stronger now than it was before though. the temperatures read exactly what I have them set to: 0 for the freezer and 38 for the fridge. That damn "vacuum condenser" light is still on, however!!

You might want to unplug the fridg to clear the error stored in the units computer.
