the ice maker quit making ice completely.The water supply line is clear of obstructions and there is water to the water inlet valve, but there is no water coming out of the valve. Disassembly of the valve revealed no debris or mineral build up on the internal parts,soaking in CLR made no differance. Measuring the voltage across the wires going to the water inlet valve solenoid indicated 11 volts, which did not change when the lever in the fridge was flipped up and down. Is this the correct voltage for operating the valve to let water flow to the icemaker?

The voltage is incorrect. It suppose to be about 120VAC to open the water valve.

The first thing I would check is the temperature in the freezer. It must be bellow 12°F for the ice maker to produce an ice. If there is nothing wrong then proceed to step 1.

1. Remove the ice maker front cover and check for 120VAC between "N" & "L" test points. Make sure the test probes are 1/2" in.

If there is no 120VAC then remove the ice maker and remove the wire harness from the ice maker. Check for continuity the black wire in the ice maker wire harness from end to end. Replace the ice maker if it's open. If the circuit is closed then the problem is somewhere out of the ice maker.

2. If there is 120VAC then using an insulated piece of wire (14 GA), short points "T" & "H" to run the motor. Leave the jumper in for a half of a revolution and remove it. The water valve should be energized in the last half of the revolution.

If the water valve did energized then replace the ice maker.

If the water valve did not energized (with 120VAC to the water valve) then the water valve has to be replaced too.

- The part number for the ice maker is AP2984633

- The part number for the water valve is AP3865363

:rolleyes: Gene, Thanks for the voltage info. The valve is stamped 120V but I didn' know if there was a possible low voltage circuit or not, anyhow I'm going to dig into it asap now that i have your info. Dyo
