Model Number: FRS20WRHW1 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 5 - 10 years
This ice box has been working fine but it stop making ice and things like pop sickles that was put on the top shelf or any shelf will not freeze.
I blew out the condensor last night and no change then I did the following. with ice box unplugged: I took the thermostat and unplugged one wire and touch the 2 with an ohm meter and got no reading. I then unplugged one wire on the heater and check for continuity and got no reading. I then touch the ohm meter wires together and got a reading so the meter is working. does this mean the heater is bad and needs replacing or id I do this wrong? Thanks Ads By Google Related Models |

It sounds like you either have a leak in the sealed system, or a partial restriction. Try this: Find a place to keep your perishable food. Unplug the unit for at least 24 hours (48 is better). Plug it back in. This doesn't work 100% of the time; but if there is a restriction, sometimes doing this will clear it up.
A leak can either be very gradual, therby giving unnoticable symptoms for a long time, or it can start small and increase. Depending on where in the system it develops, repair can be impractical. If the trick works, be prepared for the same thing to happen again. What it means is that there is something (moisture, debris, etc.) besides refrigerant, coursing through some very tiny passages within the system. |
