Would it be possible to give me a ballpark figure for repair to a whirlpool gold conquest side by side refrigerator that is 7 years old? Water has been running out the front of the freezer side for a while, now. We have been putting off a repair and just dealing with the water. The center strip between the freezer and fridge has been hot for a while. Now, it is cold. Neither the refrigerator nor freezer is working . . . no cooling at all. We need some advice to know whether it is more cost effective to have this fridge repaired or to buy a new one. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Sorry but it is impossible to guess at the repair cost.
You have to do more troubleshooting.

Is the compressor running?
Which fans if any are running?
Is the unit totally dead?

Water is the freezer is often just a plugged drain line.
Hot divider is often just dirty condenser coils under the unit.
If the freezer does not cool then either will the fresh food side as that is where the cold air comes from.

Sounds like the compressor is not running. Whirlpools overload and relay combination, usually last 6 to 8 years. You can easily replace it yourself. As far as the water leaking out of the freezer, it is a clogged drain hole. These are normal repairs. I usually slide a plastic water hose down the drain hole as far as I can, and then blow through the end. Since your refrigerator is not cooling, you don't have to worry about ice. As far as the compressor... I never put the overload and relay kit back in. I usually put a hard start kit in. The part # is RCO-410 Tom ********************************************
