Model Number: PSS26MGPA Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I have had this Frig for about 7 years. After about 5 years, the ice maker would CLUNK and stopped dispensing ice (I liked CRUSHED ICE, so the wife blamed me for it being broke).
I took the dispenser out and realized the Drive CUP (Plastic) was broken (part 355 in diagram)...the little TOOTH that is used to spin the screw snapped off. I bught a new one and replaced it. Within a week, it broke again. now, I am on my THIRD Drive Cup replacement...and I FINALLY (yeah, I know) noticed that the Auger Drive (or at least the U-shaped blade) moves up and down quite a bit in the back of the freezer. It appears to be sitting too LOW and probably the reason that the drive keeps breaking the cup. To make a long story short, how do I get to the motor housing in the back of the freezer to see if something else is broken and thus not holding up the auger motor in the right position?
