Icemaker suddenly stopped working. Red light flashes on right side of freezer. Technician Gene suggests in another thread issue might be optics boards: (Thread here>> http://forum.appliancepartspros...makes-little-no-ice.html) I followed his advice to "test" and flashing continues >> (In that thread, Gene recommends, "Make sure the ice maker 'on-off' switch on the right side is in "on" position. Open the freezer door, press in the emitter flapper door (on the left side) to unblock the optics beam and view the diagnostics "status" LED on the right side. If it flashes then the optic boards have to be replaced. If it stays "on" then the ice maker is bad. - The part number for the optic boards kit is AP3137510") The light on my refrigerator keeps blinking when the emitter flapper door is pushed in. Questions:
Are there any other tests/diagnotices I can do to "confirm" before paying to ship this part (around $100)? I prefer not to waste money. To replace these optics boards, should I unplug the refrigerator? Any other advice re: replaciing these optics boards? Last question: I removed/dethawed the icemaker. A white plastic 2" curved piece came out from the right side of the icemaker. How does it go back together? I can't seem to put it where it needs to go.
Thank you, Mike
