Hello. New to the forums and I thank you all in advance for your expertise.
My side by side all of a sudden stopped making ice. I had recently changed the water filter and I can recall that the ice maker was mistakenly left on when I changed it. Since then, I was advised from Whirlpool to turn the icemaker off, take out the filter, and re-install it and then turn back on the icemaker to restart the icemaker.
I've done this, but it doesn't work but also, I'm not sure if it stopped making ice because of this or maybe it was coincidental.
They also advised me to pour a little bit of water into the mold and see what happens. I did this and ice was made and the white gear turned and was able to eject the ice that was made from the water that I poured in there, but other than that, there's no new water being sent to the mold.
Should I check the water line to see if anything is clogging? If so, how can I check it? The drinking water from the door seems to come out without problems...
Also, when I looked at the back of the fridge, I did see some air 'pocket' located on the top of the water line that leads to the ice maker. Should this air pocket be there or could that indicate the problem?
Sorry if this is a long explanation, but I figured I'd give as much info as I can.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
