Hi

I have the Amana side by side ARS2664BC, and what is happening is that the vent inside the fridge that blows the cold air in is freezing up, It builds up ice to the point that no air gets in, I put a new damper in however it is still happening, takes a few days after I clear out the vent, but then ices up again..

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Steve

I am assuming that there is not a problem with frost/ice anywhere else in the unit.

You have probably already done this, if not check that the damper insulation (Item 801 in Section 6) is OK. Also check it's gaskets.

I think this unit has a lower vent between the two sections check that it is clear of items.

Could be you have a door leak and too much moist air is entering the unit.
Though you should also notice that it is running too often.
May be that you are putting warm open liquids into the fresh food side causing excessive moisture. Just a long shot on my part.

Get a 2 inch wide strip of paper and place it between the frame and door seal then pull it out to see if there is a decent seal. Work your way around the doors.
Some times the seal can stick on the hinge side and not seal correctly. A common fix for this is a light coating of white grease or vaseline.
