Fridge Inverter Noise, compressor won't start

I had a a power surge after some lines went down. Then my fridge started making a squeeling noise that I traced to the inverter box. Changed the control board as directed but still get the noise and no compressor start/run. Do I just replace the inverter or will I be throwing parts at a more involved problem? Also, did I waste money on the main control board or are they likely related? Thanks!
