my evaporator ices up at various intervals..never for first 10 yrs,then 5 weeks,then 6 months,then weekly for a while,then 3days etc...where it takes different time intervals to ice up does this indicate the defrost timer or the heater or bi-metal..thanks neal

Neal,

It could be any of the components you mentioned.

But as intermittent as you described, I would guess it most likely would be the timer, but thats only a guess.

You are going to need to wait until it frosts up again and run a circuit and voltage test, would be my reccomendation.
