My door water dispenser stopped dispensing. I replaced the water filter and now when the dispenser door switch is depressed, water shoots out the valve assembly at the bottom rear of the refrig. Any ideas what to check or replace?

Sounds like a tubing came off remove back panel and have someone depress the switch while you look. Should be pretty obvious at that point

I unscrewed the valve assembly at the bottom, rear corner of the refrigerator and watched it while depressing the door water dispenser. There is a free (not hooked up to anything) plastic tube 3" long from the valve assembly that is squirting out the water. I don't know if this is an indication of a blocked line, a bad valve (solenoid) or ?? The short, free line is there for a reason. I'm sure anyone with experience with this valve assembly might know.

Sounds like the tube broke off from the rest of it look around you may see the other end of it most of the tubing coming from the valve is x feet long. when you do see it cut it off square and push in in you have to depress a fitting to get tube out not just by pulling on it

I'll re-check tonight. There are only 3 lines going upwards outside the refrigerator - an In and Out to the filter (back to the valve) and an Out to the ice maker (and I assume water dispenser). Then of course there's an In from the wall plumbing.
The disconnected one may be a separate line to the water dispenser.
I'll write back with my search results tonioght.

Dear V2k04,
Thanks a bunch. That was it. The filler line from the valve to the water dispenser had broken so cleanly (it looked liked it had been made that way), had not been touched, had no reason to break - it broke. I didn't see the line that it was to be hooked up to as that end of the line was still inside the braided insulation tubing that was in perfect condition. Anyway, I pulled out the 4" broken stub still attached to the valve, reconnected to the leftover piece to the water dispenser and viola!! My family has water again.
