Frigidaire side by side refridgerator and freezer not cooling.
Model Number: FRS23H5As05 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 5 - 10 years
The unit is 6 years old and just yesterday stopped cooling. I had a repair guy come out to look at it and told me that the compressor was bad and needed to be replaced. I found the part but how hard would it be for a reasonably mechanical person to switch out this part? The repairman told me that it was very hard to replace the part. He said that the part was $250 and that labor would be another $200, but I found the part for $165 and was hoping to be able to switch it out myself. Please help.

You have to be EPA cetified and have special equipment to switch out the compressor. I wuld ask him if he would do it for the $200 if you had the part.
