Auger Motor Technical Support Question

When I place a cup to the dispenser and press the lever, it acts as if it is about to dispense ice; however, the only ice that dispense is about 3 cubes that drop through the hole when the flap opens. I unhooked the plastic cover to expose the auger motor and noticed a box that is wired/connected to the actual auger motor and has a rod that sticks out of the box and also had a spring on it. There was no firmness to that spring and it looked as if the spring served no purpose. There was also a space in the plastic piece that surrounded the rod and spring where the rod that run under the ice tray set and look like it is supposed to move up or down and move that plastic piece so that the box it is sticking in may trigger the motor. I also pulled the rod up and noticed a slit that sit under or behind the rod where something may have set that kept the rod in the box or is supposed to help move the rod inside the box to allegedly trigger the motor to turn the auger so that it may dispense ice. If anyone have any knowledge on what I need to do, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.
