My GE ge pss26sgress side by side refrigerator has stopped dispensing ice (the ice maker still works and makes lots of ice), and only intermittently dispenses water.

If I select cubed or crushed ice, the green light comes on for the appropriate selection. However, if I push the triggering lever arm, the green light either goes dim or goes out completely.

If I select the water dispenser it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. If the green light is bright when I select water, then it works. If the light is dim when I select water, then it won't work. Sometimes it will go from dim to bright while I am holding the lever arm depressed. When this happens water comes out.

I have seen web sites that say this indicates a bad main control board. However, that item is expensive and I would like a confirmation of this diagnosis before I buy it.

Most likely the problem is a bad main control board. A dimmed lights proves it.

Ice dispenser stoped working. Replaced dispenser control board WR55X10195 once, and Main control board WR55X10942 twice. Both times the ice dispenser worked for a short time then quit again. All dispenser button lights are out and nothing on the dispenser works. Are there any other controles to check, or any other possible causes? This is getting expensive.

When did you replace the main control board last time?

Abought 3 hours befor it quit working the first time and 4-5 hours the second time, which was last Saturday the 25th of Sept.

It sounds very strange. Possible a shorted wires somewhere. Probably it is a time to call a pro.
