A friend has a very old Whirlpool refrigerator which developed some problems recently. I can't find this model number anywhere; closest I can locate is EED221MKWR2, which appears similar but not quite exactly the same.

I ordered the Whirlpool refrigerator repair manual, but I suspect it will be so generic that it won't be a great deal of help.

We have no manuals, schematics, or any tech info. If anyone can point me to technical information for this model, I would greatly appreciate it.

The refrigerator and freezer both got very warm Saturday; frozen food melted. Took everything out and salvaged what we could. I couldn't access the back of the unit, but I "rocked" the whole unit a couple of times ... and the fan and compressor came on. It's been running (cycling) since, but the fridge was only about 50 degrees today.

I ordered a replacement overload and relay kit ... I hope it's the right unit!

I've been doing field service & support for over 20 years ... medical x-ray equipment, CT scanners, lithotripters, and for the past 16 years I've been servicing label printing equipment. I was an electronics tech before all of that. So I'm good at troubleshooting, and pretty good with electrical/electronic equipment ... but an absolute amateur with refrigerators.

(And yes, I know she should probably get a new refrigerator, but that's an entirely different discussion!)

Thanks in advance for any help.

The model you did find is probably close enough.

I doubt it is the starter as it has nothing to do with the fans and you said the fan came on when you rocked the unit.

Sounds more like a problem either with the thermostat or the defrost timer sticking.

Check that the evaporator fan is running and there is cool air coming into the fresh food section from the freezer

Here are a couple good sites with fridge info.
