Hi - basement flooded and the bottom of the freezer ended up under ~1ft of water. All is dry and of course, the freezer does not work.

When turned on - is start to work and within ~1 second a relay in the compressor kick out. The compressor is Embraco EMY 60 HER.

Questions:
1. Do I need a new compressor?
2. Is it easy to replace (how do I handle the refrigerant?)
3. Where can I get a compressor?

Thanks!

Chances are it's the start device(part #'s
5304412851 & 5304433578) on the compressor, you can oder them from here.
You have to have a ceritfied tech to change the compressor, not something that can be changed by an unlicensed person.
Unplug the unit unit you can check the start devices or replace them, it will burn the compressor out if it's trying to start and can't.
