Model Number: ED25TQXEW00 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years
The water dispenser stopped working about 3 weeks ago, yet the Ice maker and dispenser in the freezer door works just fine. I replaced the valve unit, but the problem still remains.
I know it's pumping, or allowing, water to go to the hose leading to the dispenser as there's a junction at the bottom of the freezer door and water comes out of there with force, yet nothing at the dispenser. I need to know how to remove the face plate on the Freezer door so I can gain access to the hose to replace it. Anyone know how to do this?? Thanks! Sounds like you have a frozen water line in the door, try turning the freezer temp up just a little.

Thanks, but I live in Oregon! That would be a bit too expensive!
I'll try raising the freezer temp, but I would have thought that after around 4 years of normal operation and the controls having never been messed with, the water stream would have gotten weaker and weaker. Not working one time and within 5 minutes or so just stop working. Does that sound normal? Rod |

Hi Rod,
Just to ad my 2 cents... You can find the instructions on how to remove the dispenser front panel in one of our previous posts: Whirlpool Ice Dispenser Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool refrigerator Model ED25TQXEW00 Gene.

I finally got the front panel and main screws removed, but the dispenser won't come out. Do I have to COMPLETELY disassemble the dispenser to gain access to the water hose?

Rod,
I'm afraid you have to remove the inner panel to access water line. Gene.

Ok, but I've looked under the entire seal and see NO screws to remove the inside liner.
HOW does one accomplish THIS one? Rod rckraft@yahoo.com |

Rod,
Whirlpool used to use 3 different types of door - 2 with screws secured inner and outer panels and door gaskets and one without screws. The third type can not be taken apart and looks like this type of the door is in your refrigerator. According to the break down diagram, the dispenser housing is not serviceable part which means you probably can not remove it from the door. I do not see how the water tube inside the freezer door can be defrosted unless you defrost the whole refrigerator. Gene.

One wonders WHY it froze up in the first place as we use it constantly. I'm not kidding, when I'm home I'm forever drinking water and my wife, who doesn't work outside the house, drinks tons of water as well. So why would it freeze up all of a sudden??
There's no way it could kink, not inside the door, could it??? Rod |

1. I've learned that some questions do not have any logical answers. 2. I do no not think so. Probably you have to call a qualified technician to look into this problem. Gene.
