Model Number: RS2630SH Brand: Samsung Age: 1 - 5 years
I have a 6-7" crack in my freezer wall in my side by side refrigerator. My first series of questions is; can I repair it by stop carefully drilling the end of the crack to prevent it from migrating further and fill it with epoxy? Possibly bond a doubler over it as well? Do they sell repair kits for this?
I have also noticed the outside of the freezer near the front is warm to the touch, is that caused by the crack? Ads By Google Related Models |

You can repair it that way, being very careful only to go thru the plastic itself) and if you can live with the appearance of the epoxy or whatever you decide to use. The center devider is normally warm to the touch that is normal. Unless it is excessivly hot to the touch.
Hope that helps Nat

That does help. I make similar repairs to plastics and composites on aircraft. I checked the center divider between the fridge and freezer and it is so hot I can not keep my hand on it. What does that mean? Do I need to call a tech out to the house before there is a real problem. Thank you for the help.

Generally they that's the mullion heater and like I said before that is normal. I haven't looked at the breakdown of your unit but it's not something I would worry about unless it looks like the liner is bowing or bubbling on the inner walls or the painted strip in the middle gets discolored. The mullion will kick off and cool down in between cycles much like the defrost heater.
