The icemaker is giving us problems once again. When the frig was new, (less than a year old), it wasn't making ice. A service man said water had frozen in the tubing. He squirted hot water up the fill valve and it cleared. A year ago the icemaker wouldn't stop making ice, even though I tried turning the switch to "off". I installed new circuit boards and it was fine. Now it isn't making ice again. I tried squirting hot water up the fill tube. No luck. I emptied the freezer, shut it off completely, and left the freezer door open for several hours. No luck. I replaced the circuit boards. Still no luck. Now I've completely removed the icemaker to look at the motor in the actual icemaker. It looks like there is a burnt spot at the end of one of the orange wires. Is this normal, or could something have shorted out? Would the motor of the icemaker, if broken, cause the water to not come out of the fill valve into the ice cube tray? I thought the circuit boards controlled the water flow. If I replace the motor inside the housing of the icemaker, do you think that will solve the problem? I've seen an awful lot of complaints on different websites about this same icemaker. Sounds like Kitchenaid and Whirlpool put out a lemon. They probably should have recalled all icemakers of this type.
