Several things can happen,

Erratic ice production, if any at all, will be the most common occurence.

Slow ice production, if any at all, is the second most common occurence.

Alumilastic is a metal based(aluminum) sealant, that seals out air migration to the termostat, and the aluminum is for transferring the cold and heat from the mold, to make the control module cycle.

Expect to have erratic ice cube production until you install the alumilastic on the thermostat top and re install it into the mold assembly.

Hi Joe - so if I'm reading this correctly the only real issue by not applying the allumilastic is that the ice production will be affected. So is it safe to assume that if the icemaker is not hooked up to a water source, that the allumilastic is not needed?

Yes, you're correct,

The alumilastic is needed to insure proper operation.

If you're not planning on using the ice maker, the sealant is not needed,

*** Remember, do not attach the wire harness for the ice maker, to the wire harness connector on the wall, That way you won't damage the assembly, or need to worry about it, until you're ready to do the hook up. ***
