have a Kenmore side by side M#253.53612300 which I guess is made by Frigidare. It freezes in the fridge compartment no matter where I set the fridge and freezer controls. The online concensus is that it is the fridge temp control. Any ideas on how to test this before I order a part?

Check if the damper control (in the left upper corner) is always open. It controls the cold air flows into the fresh food compartment. If it's not operating properly then you have to replace it. Unfortunately Frigidaire does not sell it separate and have to buy the whole assembly included the cold control and the adaptive defrost control board. - The part number for the damper control assembly is AP3140255 Gene.
