Maytag Ice maker

Model Number: MZD2752GR Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years

I am having troubles with the ice maker leaking water out on to the floor. The ice seems to not be dropping out of the tray after it is frozen ..so with that in mind when it comes time to refill the tray with water it overflows out the dispensing hole onto the kitchen floor or leaks inside the freezer and soaks all the food and freezes. Do I need a new ice maker or would removing it and defrosting the unit work? Not sure if a cube is jammed in the unit and thats whats causing the water to flow out. Please help!
