Model Number: ars 266 rbw Brand: Amana Age: 5 - 10 years
Our ice maker started not dumping the ice at first so we would have to lift the metal bar ourselves to release the ice. Then it pretty much stopped making ice all together. Then, as soon as I noticed the red light come on to replace the filter, the ice maker started working again, the same day the red light came on. I took the filter out and put the bypass plug in and the ice maker continued to work until I couldn't take the taste of the water anymore and bought a new filter. I installed the new filter and the ice maker stopped working again. So, I took the new filter out and put the bypass cap back on and the ice maker still will not work. I am stumped

Remove the ice maker head cover and check for 120VAC between "N" & "L" test points. Make sure the test probes are 1/2" in. If there is 120VAC then using an insulated piece of wire (14 GA), short points "T" & "H" to run the motor. Leave the jumper in for a half of a revolution and remove it. The water valve should be energized in the last half of the revolution. Post the results. I know I am not the original poster but I am having basically the same issue. I started with hollow cubes then no cubes. I found the fill elbow frozen solid. I thawed the line and reinstalled the icemaker runs but never fills with water. I shorted T & H together and still no water, can you offer some insight please? Is it the water valve or the icemaker itself? I want to spend my money wisely, thank you!
