Model Number: GSS25KGMC WW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a few problems with my GE Fridge.
1. The icemaker is dripping water onto the paddle feeler. That keeps it from moving and no more ice is made. 2. The water dispenser decided to intermittently dispense water while I was at work. I got to clean up six gallons when I got home 3. The freezer door gasket needs replaced. 4. The insulation inside the door needs replaced. 5. The trap door does not always close, which causes frost to build up inside the freezer if you don't manually close it. A repair guy came out today. He discovered problem 3 and while trying to duplicate problem 2, the ice inside the door began to melt all over the floor. When he opened up the door, he discovered problem 4. Here are my questions. a. I believe a bad switch is to blame for problem 2. Good guess or no? Is there a way to troubleshoot, or should I just replace it at $9? b. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot problem 1? Apparently staring at it for 10 minutes doesn't do it and I'm afraid to keep the door open any longer than that. c. Is it fairly straightforward to replace the insulation? d. I can't find what part number to order so I can replace the trap door. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Alex |

A. Good guess on the switch, replace it. with all the moisture you talk about there is a darn good chance the switch has gotten wet.
B.You need a new icemaker, no way around that one... C. You can't replace the insulation. This refer was under a class action lawsuit for all the problems you describe which would have been taken care of if reported within the time frame, unfortunatly that time frame has expired. The only way to fix the door is to purchase the new doorkit from GE. About $800 for the repair kit. D. Part Details - GE Ice door assembly, part number: WR17X11653
